The National Energy Administration just released the shale gas industrial policy on October 30, listing this industry among the state strategic emerging industries to show the government’s determination in developing this industry. However, as a major player of China’s shale gas industry, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) is planning to sell half shares in two shale gas blocks in Canada to cope with the cost pressure and seek newer technology. The planned deal is aimed to spread the cost and accelerate development of the company’s largest two shale gas blocks in Canada.
