As a lot of infrastructure programs have been launched in recent years, cement demand is soaring in Zambia. The flourishing building industry in this country has boosted development of both upstream and downstream markets. To meet local demand for cement and concrete, Lafarge has slashed the cement export by 15% in Zambia. Lafarge said Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Congo are five export African countries from Zambia. Congo is Lafarge’s biggest cement export market. The company focuses more on developing building industry in Zambia because it is robustly developing.
